Baby Stimulation and Play

Children develop and thrive through social, emotional and physical interactions. Quality time should include lots of chit chatter to stimulate language development and social skills while using a variety of equipment stimulates their fine and gross motor skills. Being creative and intentional  keeps play and educational time fresh and interesting for the mom, teacher or caregiver while increasing the baby's attention span.

Self Defence

Kobus Riekert Karate Academy is running a free self defence class for ladies and our girls are are absolutely loving the sessions. Thank you Kobus for equipping ladies with this much needed life skill. The classes are being run every Friday evening for about 3 months at no charge. What a noble gesture!

Dayspring Animal Farm

Thank you Peter and Kim, of Stitching Friends For Africa for taking our little kiddies to visit Dayspring Animal Farm. This was most certainly a highlight for them with so many animals to pet, fun equipment to play on and yummy food to fill the bellies!

Birthday Bash

Celebrating with our little princess as she turned 2! She adores babies and loves to hug and kiss everyone. Her party was made extra memorable  with a pretty girly, girl cake and her very own pram and baby doll to hug and kiss to her heart's content! Thank you to the sponsors who make these occasions truly special!

Fun, Sun, Sea

iKhaya LikaBaba is situated just 30 minutes drive away from the beach. So taking a trip to swim and catch some sunshine and just enjoy the ocean breeze is something the older kids really enjoy. The small craft harbour and Alkanstrand Public Beach offer plenty to keep one entertained, like the Skate Park, which is another favourite spot for us to visit.

Paint and Work Party

Much was accomplished at our Paint and Work Party in February. We had LO learners from Felixton College along with members of the public and Solid Ground Church join us. A massive pile of garden refuse was removed, walls were painted and furniture sanded all while keeping the kids entertained and out of the paint buckets! Thank you Power Spar and Woolworths for our lunch. We can surely agree that many hands make light work!

Valentine's Day

Our younger school goers dressed up for Valentine's Day Civvies at school and spread the love with loads of smiles.

Gratitude

Here's a shout out to some of our sponsors. Thank you Vimba for installing a slam lock on our pedestrian gate, Super Group for the infant formula milk, Bidvest Steiner for hand sanitizers and AirProducts and RBCT for the financial gifts that will make a huge impact in our lives and home! We appreciate all who partner with us and we are by no means overlooking those I have not highlighted here. To come on board in support of our mission please contact us directly by email or give Loressa a call.

Boy's Toys

My Dad brought his drone to fly with the boys, and girls, and to show them how it operates. They were totally intrigued and captivated! Thank you Grandpa and Granny Dimps for sharing your time and technology with our kids!

Volunteers

Greetings friends of iKhaya

We have had a very busy and productive month. Peter and Kim, from the Netherlands, spent the whole of February with us doing maintenance and investing quality time with the kids. We are super blessed to have had them with us and are grateful for all the tasks they accomplished.

Our paint party turned into a full on work party as we had so many volunteers that we were able to accomplish more than just painting on the day!

We introduced after school tutoring for a few of the kids needing the extra help with maths, English and study techniques. We are so thankful for the teachers who are partnering with us to see our kids thrive educationally.

Look out for our upcoming Tertiary Campaign to focus on Education, Skills and Development of our teens as they reach this stage in their lives. Exciting times as we prepare to venture into this new phase.

Until next time,

Loressa, staff and kids
