On A Personal Note

I stand in AWE of the GLORY and MAJESTY of our KING and of the outpouring of His love and abundant provision on our home. We are all living in tough times, some without food or shelter and others carefully watching their pennies. Children are house bound and missing their friends and, if privileged enough, are being homeschooled. Yet, amidst this I see the generosity of many who are being His HANDS and FEET in this season. Food parcels, sanitizers, masks, clothing, finances and even treats like cake to celebrate birthdays. It’s a time of gratitude and appreciation for me as we live on the receiving end of God’s richest blessings and provisions. Love and greetings, Loressa

The school holidays drew to a close and the kids realised that they were not returning to school as they know it. Us parents faced the challenges of online learning and some technology that was foreign to us. At iKhaya this meant home-schooling 14 children in 3 “classes” over and above our usual Early childhood program.

Downloading and printing classwork meant data, paper and toner usage like never before, let alone the time factor for so many kids based in one home! But we have mastered the task and settled into a good routine and with the help of committed schools and teachers we are forging ahead. Our house-moms and caregivers are doing a sterling job!

Home Life

Life at iKhaya is never dull. The sounds of laughter and chatter of little friends so often fills the air and warms the heart! Despite the trauma many have faced, and the repercussions trauma causes, our home is filled with peace and love. The children rarely quarrel and get along with loads of sibling tenderness.

The older kids nurture the younger ones and so often rise to the challenge of helping around the home with willing hearts. In fact, most days I have an entourage of helpers as I pack up, that I end up sharing the “load” (down to keys and lunchbox) between the little helpers. Our lives are full. Our kids are happy. We are blessed!

The Great Outdoors

Here is more picture proof that we are situated on the perfect property, with plenty wide open spaces, great play grounds and equipment to keep our children active and stimulated all day long in the fresh air and sunshine! Enjoying the simple pleasures of a sandpit and hopscotch, riding bikes and kicking balls are many of the kids favourite outdoor activities.
