Greta Bechtold

Hello everyone

I am Greta a German volunteer and I have spent 7 months at iKhaya LikaBaba. I am so blessed that I have learned so many things about God, my self, relationship and the children during my stay. But what really changed my heart was when I realized that even though a child has everything it physically needs it can still never be completely fine until it is loved. And that’s something I got to experience at iKhaya.

The family like environment made us feel like home right away and contains a stable, loving and caring environment for the children. And that’s something I got to experience at iKhaya. The family like environment made us feel like home right away and contains a stable, loving and caring environment for the children. Even though we had to leave 4 months early, due to Covid-19, iKhaya will always stay in my heart as my second home.

I have got to experience the South African culture, I learned a lot from the staff, I gained so many new incredible friends in SA and I got to know God more and more every day, also through the children and their hearts. And I learned that God’s timing is always the best!

Thank you to everyone who made us feel like home, for every patient teacher, for every friendly lesson and to the children for touching my heart.

Stay safe and be blessed Greta

Hannah Asal

The time I spent at iKhaya LikaBaba was the most precious time I ever had. The most beautiful feeling was that each day was full of love and smiling kids!

I learned a lot from the kids, I learned to start your day with a smile and not with a grumpy face, they also taught me how to love others and to not have any prejudices. Every day I felt like I was in a lovely family!

Sara Gäckle

Hello, My name is Sara Gäckle, I am from Germany and I volunteered at iKhaya LikaBaba for 7 months. The time in South Africa really changed my heart, my view and my relationship to God.

I had the pleasure to meet new people, make new friends, to get to know another culture and especially spending time with amazing kids and staff. They made me look at the world in a differnent way and gave me so many reasons to be thankful and grateful.

Their love, happy faces, cuddles, laughings and their happy and easy attitude to life made me feel like home. It was an honor for me to live in such a lovely environment and to call myself a part of the "iKhaya LikaBaba-family".
