John 13:34 “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I loved you, you also are to love one another“

Holiday Program

During the easter holidays we welcomed four american students who volunteered to organise the holiday program for our kids. The children had a wonderful time improving their crafting skills by designing their own masks and making their very own bracelets and necklaces. Our kids were not just provided with crafts but were challenged with physical activities as well. It was lovely to see how the kids cheered for one another and motivated each other.

Outing to the farm

Holidays are the best time for outings with all the kids, such as a visit to the farm adjacent to our property. The kids were invited for horse riding and most importantly… cake! It was lovely to see how much they enjoyed being around the horses and with how much excitement they waited for their turn to ride. We are very proud that even those who hesitated in the beginning, overcame their fears and got to enjoy the ride.

Easter Egg Hunt

Easter is a special time of the year, especially for children because it‘s the time for chocolates and exciting easter egg hunts! Our kids were overly eager to find the chocolate eggs, which volunteers from Solid Ground Church, hid around the property. Everyone spread out quickly to look in every tree and under every stone for their “treasure“. Needless to say that the eggs were found very promptly and presented by the kids with delight and pride!

Outing to Felixton

It is in our heart at iKhaya that we provide the kids with the oppurtunity to explore the world beyond our home and the property. One place which has became quite popular for little outings is Felixton, our little neighbouring village. In Felixton our kids are able to safely ride their little motorbikes and explore their surroundings, such as the golf course, huge trees and the dam which fish inhabit. The kids are always more than entrigued to spend time watching the fish and most importantly feeding them bits of bread.

Toddlers and Babies…

Our mornings are kept eventful and entertaining by the youngsters. We have two toddlers aged 2 ½ years and two babies who stay home while our 4 boys, aged 3-5 years, attend our very own Pre School daily. Now and again the toddlers join forces with the boys for some adventure! They absolutely love visiting the neighbours farmyard while walking along the property fence line or just taking walks together to enjoy some excercise and fresh air. Sarah and Jenny, our German Volunteers, spend quality time with the babies each morning to stimulate and interact with them. This is essential for body strength, social skills and the development of a good foundation for their education as they grow up.
